At Alto Energy, we work with heating engineers to install heat pumps and therefore require installers to properly insulate external pipes. Most pipe insulation on the market is designed for indoor use only, which is neither waterproof nor UV resistant. This often results in water damage and eventual deterioration of the insulation.

I have used condensate pro for years so when I saw primary pro I knew it would tick all the boxes when insulating external pipework as everything out there fell short of insulating pipes properly. If pipes are boxed in and insulted then rats and mice can ruin the integrity of the insulation and go unnoticed as you can’t see it behind the boxing. Other insulation has been used and tie wrapped still alows water to penetrate and not work properly sometimes worse than no insulation. I have seen Insulation not made for external use used and turns to jelly or dries up. Primarily pro has been designed with doing the job of insulating external pipework to the letter of the law it keeps water out insulates valves antifreeze valves and flexi connections to your heat pumps clips/brackets fit externally so no water ingress and uv stable too.

As we have fitted thousands of appliances, usually consisting of insulating condensate pipes externally with standard lagging, we still managed to find that when external temperatures dropped to below zero, the condensate would still freeze, after using primary pro insulation we haven’t had a single frozen pipe, this I think is down to the thickness of the product providing much more insulation depth, the fact that it is weather proof and uv proof, and also that each joint is sealed with a solution, so no air gaps, its a great product which we will continue to use!
